Gordon Ramsay’s 24 hours to hell and back seafarer family restaurant

Seafarer family restaurant Is a family-owned seafood restaurant in Manquin, Virginia 30 minutes away from Richmond and 1 hour from the beaches, while it sits on a busy highway At the time they were unable to attract local and truck population.

Manquin, Virginia is known for its war reenactments So it was pretty fun to see Gordon dress up as a British soldier During the episode He recruited season 3 winner and podcaster Chef Rock Harper, as the decoy.

The restaurant is run by 2 sisters Amber and Autumn Two sisters will have zero experience. And very little passion for the restaurant the head chef Logan Is a 20-year-old recovering narcotics user Who’s also Amber’s son.

After the horrendous food and horrid smell coming from the kitchen, Both rock and Gordon emerged To say how bad the service was and the footage didn’t make it any better.

a couple of things that were wrong with a place was improper food storage rusted and dirty equipment and lack of accountability and Leadership Autumn one of the owners kept throwing everyone under the bus, in addition, She would put her boyfriend to work instead of her nephew she even chased out customers because they didn’t leave enough tip.

2 of the things that I took issue with this episode. It is something that happens to frequent in the work environment and it’s no cell phone use, It is the use of drugs and alcohol while on duty, I am a strong believer. You should always be sober-minded While you work However, what you choose to do after work Is your business.

The other thing is the lack of customer service Don’t chase people down for their tips That’s just rude and desperate.

Now when it comes to Seafood I’m no expert but as the video describes Seafood is a lot trickier than cooking regular food for example of shellfish need to be fresh and live Before they can be served Shellfish have to be stored in a freshwater tank wow fish Like other meat needs to be stored on ice or in a freezer if not done this way the crabs could die and decompose very quickly And there are a lot of diseases that come in fish.

When you work or on anything, you have to make sure that you have sufficient knowledge and what you’re doing. If not, then it’s not going to work out. If a person does not have the passion nor knowledge. Like a seafood restaurant, It’s going to fail. So at that point, you may want to change your menu So it better Fits your overall palette.

Has Gordon Ramsay teaches the head chef they get into the history behind his substance abuse which was hanging out with the wrong crowd and depression with the support of his Mother he is now a year sober and has found cooking to be an outlet for his recovery.

To wrap up the episode Amber takes full control of the restaurant While her sister Autumn takes a backseat They change the name of the restaurant to Halterman eatery the dinner service was strong and chef Rock becomes a mentor to Logan.

https://twitter.com/24HoursFOX/status/1224920471386243072?s=09

3 months later They’re still doing okay From the reviews I’ve read Rock is still working with Logan and Autumn might be back.

In conclusion, it’s important to whether it’s management business or supervision to know your craft, work with your team and delegate your staff accordingly.

That’s all I have for today Checkout out rock Harper’s podcast on Stitcher and Apple, and check out Chef Jeff Henderson book

24 hours to hell and back Botto’s Italian line

In today’s episode of Gordon Ramsay’s 24 hours to hell and back we are introduced to a family business with ties to a Sausage Factory and supermarket this is what we call a symbiotic Cooperative business called Botto’s Italian line in Swedesboro New Jersey.

1411 Kings Highway Swedesboro, NJ

The restaurant is made up of 4 Brothers Vincent and Dominic who owned a Sausage Factory, Robert bot to who owns both a supermarket and Henry who is also the executive chef, sadly due to the death of their father things haven’t been the same and the lack of customers are only adding to the stress.

At the start of the episode, Gordon Ramsay disguises himself as a Godfather invites 2 lovely Italian women he also reserved a wedding party to divert attention off him after eating the most disastrous food I’ve ever seen his assistant reveals him.

After the display of the kitchen, he goes into the stock meeting and one thing that is apparent is the lack of responsibility and blame towards Henry, Robert isn’t pleased with Gordon Ramsay criticism and proceeded to throw Henry on the bus Gordon Ramsay doesn’t care about that nor is he willing to listen they proceed on to the kitchen.

As he goes down the line of everything wrong with The food he asks the important question as to how often the hood of the stove has cleaned the friar still on as he pulls down to see the cleanliness of the hood and a whole flop of grease yours down into the frier igniting a kitchen fire.

Side note it is important to cleanout
Your kitchen hood on a month to prevent Kitchen fires and ensure a safe and clean working environment in addition in order to prevent contamination is important to rotate your product the FILO rule first in last out.

After the kitchen incident, Gordon sits down with their brother Dominic to discuss how Robert’s Behavior is affecting the restaurant and he agrees that to hold him accountable.

Henry and Gordon work on a new menu, and during there, conversation Henry talks about his relationship with his father and how he put him through school where he got his degree in Hotel and restaurant management his dream, however, was to be the front of the house but his father put him to cook instead which Gordon Ramsay takes notice after they finish with the menu they sit down and talk to Robert and Robert ultimately agrees to step back and let Henry take control.

After 24 hours the restaurant is back open again and they have a successful dinner service 3 months later they are doing terrific and Henry has excelled exponentially.

In conclusion, it’s important to whether it’s management business or supervision to work with your team and delegate your staff accordingly Let each worker find their voice and expertise.

That’s all I have for you today check out my like a boss review if you haven’t seen it I have a non-spoiler review as well

The Conners S2E11 mud turtle, a good steak and a man in tub

In this episode of the Conners Jackie and Becky meet with a supplier and Darlene learns how things really work in college admissions when her daughter Harris gets into college.

In the start of the episode Jackie meets with a friendly supplier who mentions something that always happens in the B2B industry which is the competitive market through undercutting the competition this is something that a lot of people who sell to businesses are guilty of whether it’s marketing, food, insurance, etc… this isn’t always a bad thing but it also isn’t always a good thing when shopping for supplier you must look at everything just because the prices good doesn’t mean the food itself is good it may be low-quality it is better to negotiate a price whether supplier with good quality food then it is to go with the lowest quality food for the lowest price.

Jackie then makes the decision to go with the supplier rather than discussing it with her partner Becky because she fancies her friendship, business and friendship don’t always go hand-in-hand but it’s not unusual for businesses to build a relationship with a potential buyer it’s actually a standard practice for example whenever you go to a timeshare they have this magnificent breakfast ready for you I guess ready after the presentation and this wonderful tour this is to entice the customer go with to buy from you however it is important that when you have a partner that you and your partner on the same page this is actually going to be more relevant in tonight’s episode Gordon Ramsay’s 24 hours to hell and hours.

I need to be on to the B plot Harris’s educational choice, Darlene’s daughter Harris gets into central Illinois state but before Darlene gets excited Harris reveals that she got hired at price warehouse where she can get a business degree online for $350 a semester but after a lot of convincing her to go on a tour for her mother.

After the tour, they meet with the financial aid office and it turns out that well her writing skills are pretty good Kyra still does not qualify for grants or scholarships and has to take out student loans which would accurately put her in debt for 20 years this is a major issue in the world where students are being put into deck just for a good education.

At the end of the conversation, Darlene blurts out a major talking point in a lot of people’s minds which is that college is a scam while I personally don’t agree with this notion and believe that college is not only necessary but should be affordable especially when in order to have an actual living wage you need some form of Education or skill whether it be some form a trade or certification but not all certifications are created equal I will get to that in a later blog.

https://youtu.be/tXgCG50YoWs

At the end of the episode, Becky finally convinces to cut the order in half Jackie talks to the supplier and always perceived to be a way to Furness Jackie turned out to be a genuine friendship and an encouraging message on female empowerment.

In conclusion, whether it’s college or business you should always look at your options there’s always an alternative.

That’s all I have for you today check out my like a boss review if you haven’t seen it I have a non-spoiler review as well also set your calendars for February 11th the Conners are going live on ABC.

24 hours to hell and back Caneda’s White Rooster

Still in the Jersey Shore Gordon Ramsay visits Patricia Caneda the co-owner and operator of Cuban restaurant called Caneda’s white rooster in Toms River, New Jersey.

781 Fischer Blvd, Toms River, NJ 08753

Patricia Caneda is a daughter Cuban refugees and mom of two who previously owned a small brick-and-mortar shop called Canada’s: an empanada experience which expanded into the white rooster thanks to Jeremy Grunin of Grunin Holdings investing into her dream.

Unfortunately just like blend on Main they too are having a difficult time attracting the locals, only opened a year they saw a decline after the summer only 2 they failed to attract the locals.

Before going through the disguise he decided to talk to the Jeremy who States that he has put in over 2 million dollars into the restaurant

Gordon Ramsay brings along Sopranos actors Vincent Pastore and Joey Gannascoli who are not impressed neither food nor the decor which was blend dinner however was far from perfect it was horrendous on top of that there was a smell that kept coming into the dining area from the kitchen nobody knew where that was coming from

Gordon walks into the kitchen and now comes this big reveal he takes everyone the street to watch what exactly is going on in the restaurant the condition of the kitchen was hellish flies all over the place rotten food and inexperienced young executive chef and to make it worse Jeremy who was also Undercover had to witness for the first time what was really going on in the restaurant.

There was also staff on their phone now I personally don’t mind people being on their phone as long as they’re paying attention and at least promoting the company however I admit I am guilty of this as well when you’re in a tight space you should be looking at what’s going on around you especially when you’re around things that can break or hurt you potentially.

During the staff meeting, there are a lot of concerns with the executive chef not knowing what anything means what GP means what overhead cost food production Etc another issue that is brought up is the semi seasonal location and lack of customers and resources in addition to lack staff training

After the staff meeting we get to see the inside of the kitchen and what exactly are they serving and in the fridge there is an octopus inside a sealed bag that is extremely Rancid so much so that it actually made Gordon vomit you also see a week old salmon and rotten vegetables.

Well the crew is cleaning the kitchen and the designers are working on the interior according to science to go one-on-one with Phil executive chef as they work together on the new menu, at first he is a little rocky but ultimately gets it done with Ramsey’s crew the staff is able to learn ultimately what they needed to learn the past 9 months.

After 24 hours dinner service still was Rocky however the investor Jeremy decided to give the restaurant they fired Phil and hired Chef Lisa who previously worked at blend on Main a restaurant that Chef Gordon had rescued in the previous episode

In conclusion, there are ways to attract locals your restaurant one of the ways is to partner up with delivery services such as Uber Eats Postmates GrubHub door dash also offer up your Space to meetups and events such as corporate or church event, which Toms River has a lot of also it is great publicity to get involved in the community by giving away anything you’re about to throw away.

Like a boss second look ( spoiler review)

After watching like a boss for second time a lot of things caught my attention Tiffany haddish I didn’t interview with Breakfast Club on Thursday where she was not only promoting the movie but speaking financially woke as Dr. Boyce Watkins would say however this movie displayed far from progressive I would go as far as saying it was very cliche of the black stereotype and white savior.

Like a boss is about 2 lifelong friends Mel and Mia who start a Makeup Company there are two employees which are played by Billy Porter(barret) and Jennifer Coolidge who adds to the chemistry of the film.

Where we get into a little bit of trouble in this film is the setup of these characters Mia which is the eccentric boss of the 2 who loves to party, never gets anything done, leaves a mess her partner to clean up and who has a different idea on how a business is run which bad unless it prevents you from bringing in profit and doesn’t always listen to her partner, then you have Mel the one with good credit handles the finances and ultimately comes up with this crazy idea of accepting an offer after she fails to explain to her business partner Mia that they are in debt and they need this help and has a lack of confidence and always seeks approval which is exploited in the movie.

The movie starts off with a montage how they went from an online business in Mia’s mother’s garage to a brick and mortar soon humble beginnings.

At the beginning of the film, the ladies stop by the store before heading to their friend’s baby shower where we are introduced to Barrett(Billy Porter) and Jen (Jennifer Coolidge) Jen is one of the beauty technicians and Barrett handles manufacturing products that they sell called one nightstand.

While Mia does her thing Mel goes to back to check on Barrett where she learned that Mia who is supposed to finish the bags of makeup didn’t finish because she ate an edible and as I have put it off till the next day Mel also learns that they are behind on production of their signature product, in addition, she gives unnecessary discounts Mel explains to them that they need to keep up with production and not give these discounts out because they’re losing money.

At their friends baby shower, you can see and hear by Mel’s facial expressions and voice that she is definitely hiding something one of her friends parents talks about how her daughter sold her company for a great prophet which makes Mel feel like a failure so much so that she needs a break though she goes upstairs and smoke a joint with Mia as they’re talking I hear the girls coming upstairs and they notice that the baby is in the room with them that they’re smoking in, so they hide outside where they are immediately caught Mel feels ashamed and can’t handle the judgment but Mia comes out and Save the Day and tells her friends off before she takes off her weave and both jump into the water.

The next day Mel reflects what her friends were saying chats with Mia about it we also learn about Mel’s backstory about how Mia took her in when her mother was on meth.

In the next scene they return to the store to find The Apprentice played by (Karan Soni) in the shop waiting for them, he explains that they have attracted the attention of Claire Luna played by Salma Hayek Mia is put back by it not knowing how bad things really are and doesn’t want to go through with it but Mel convinces her to at least see what she has to offer especially considering that if they don’t Shape Up you’re going to lose the business within 6 months.

While waiting for the meeting Mia finally asks the question how bad are they in debt Mal explains that they are $493,000 in debt Mia is shocked to hear that things have gotten that bad and Mel feels as if she has failed her friend and business partner even though it is the other way around( side note when in business you must discuss with your partner everything that is going on it is important to be honest no matter what the circumstances).

They meet with Claire and Claire offers them a deal that Mel can’t refuse Mia objects and after a drink and karaoke Mia finally agrees and when they meet again with Claire Luna Claire offers turn 51% of the company just as long as things don’t go south between the ladies Mia assures her that that’s not going to happen.

That day they are given the task of coming up with a proposal that Claire can use at her launch party, as they are discussing what their proposal should be for their brand Mia decides that she wants to party before she thinks about what she’s going to say at the party Mel is the one that’s pulling the work trying to find out what’s the best strategy after Mia’s sexcapades end they smoke a joint and get ready to eat some fries they get back to work on it and come up with a great proposal that they dub proud which Claire in an attempt to manipulate rejects.

And the next scene Claire come to the store and checks out Barrett’s station and Barrett, unfortunately, admits that he does 75 he can do more but why to go hard, so Claire decides to mass-produce the product and tells Mel to fire Barrett and Mel obliges.

Mel and Mia’s next task is to come up with another product that she can sell Mel comes up with the idea of double-sided lipstick which as a business you definitely want to have more products just to stay consistent and creative with your business.

After they fire Barrett days later they go to their friend’s birthday party where her friend hires an executive chef who teaches them how to make cuisines during this time the two begin to argue over the current situation and how clear has totally been manipulating the company that they started together while no one is looking, Mel spikes Mia a stuffed pepper with more ghost peppers this part of the movie is a little tone deaf.

Claire continues to manipulate Mia and Mel by refusing to work with them because they didn’t live up to her expectations Mia makes a scene Mel apologizes for her then Mia decides to be the stereotypical Mad Black Woman by taking Claire’s Club and is smashing the window.

Claire convinces Mel to come to a network event where she can show off her skills Mel then drags Mia with her to the event that is when Claire manipulates them one last time and criticizes there artistic expression for Mel to try to fix the issue to try to impress Claire and Mia finally giving up and Calling it Quits which gives Claire 51% of the company the girls split.

Mel stays with the house while Mia stage with her boyfriend and then you have the friendly Montage of getting the girls back together as Mia meet with Barrett he tells Mia what she needs to hear how she took Mel’s friendship for granted and Mel learns the truth about Claire’s initial intention she steals her idea and gives it to masculine friends Mel and Mia get back together in the most cliche cell phone scene possible.

They begin to get their things together create a new product ride or die and they crash Claire’s lunch party where she tries to play everything off and gives into the girl’s man’s not knowing that they had a new investor which is Claire’s former partner play by Lisa Kudrow who reminds Claire that they still own 49% of the company so regardless she still has to pay them for a company that she helped build it back up while simultaneously trying to break it down.

Finally, in the end, their company is a huge success and becomes a franchise Mel convinces Mia to say that they made it with Mel’s guidance and that is the end of the movie.

When you take away all the racist stereotypes the movie does the job to educate the audience and to provide entertainment both had a lot to contribute to the film but that realization was lost in the constant cliches when it comes to business and accepting investors and the controls that the investors tend to have you saw this in the situation with John Schnatter from Papa John’s who was removed for saying the n-word during a conference call that he believes was taken out of context

Thank you for reading this is the second look of like a boss I still believe that anyone who wants to open up their own business should watch this movie or can watch Joy or Horrible Bosses 2 which are both on Amazon Prime.

LIKE A BOSS (non spoiler) review

Like a boss is about 2 friends Mel (Rose Byrne) and Mia (Tiffany Haddish) who go into business to start a beauty company with a great cast and a message on business and Entrepreneurship.

In the film, you’re introduced to the 2 ladies Mia (the boss) who’s a little more Lax leaving  Mel to carry the load, and Mel a woman who Lacks confidence and always seeking approval from her friends and those around her she even feels like she’s failing her best friend.

We are then introduced to The Apprentice (Karan Soni) who tells the girls that they have been garnered the attention of his boss Clara Luna (Selma Hayek) who does a really great job at being the villain of the film she uses Mel’s lack of confidence desperation and financial situation to manipulate  not only Mel’s moves but the girls friendships as well going as far as sympathizing with Mel’s situation.

While Mia is fairly skeptical Mel explains to her that $493,000 in debt, and won’t be able to stay in business if they don’t recover so she goes along with Clara’s offer.

Soon after excepting the offer Clara starts making changes to the company in order to stir up strife between the partners so she can move along with her plans.

The movie Does an awesome job discussing the struggles of going into the business including debt, creative differences, trust, and confidence.

The movie is better than Horrible Bosses 2 pretty good movie I would definitely recommend you check it out in theaters Friday, January 10th, 2020 you can also catch an earlier screening on January 9, 2020, at your nearest movie theater.

What Fuller house and the Conners got right and what they got wrong starting a business

Both Fuller house and the Conners have very similar plots for the season I want to focus on the fact that in both shows they open a business and offer the viewers a lot of information that they could use when starting a restaurant.

Like many businesses owning a restaurant is a challenge that many faces, you have to think about a lot of things such as the cost the price the product the space and the location as a son of a restaurant owner I recognize my father’s struggle who were 20 hours a day 7 days a week and an overweight diabetic amongst other things but I digress.

In season 5 episode 3 of Fuller house DJ convinces Steve to hang out with Fernando who is struggling with retirement and Jimmy who’s struggling away balancing his time as a freelance photographer, as the episode continues the 3 meet up at Uncle Monty Sandwich Emporium for lunch, along the conversation they received their food and after countless banter the three find out that Uncle Monty’s is moving to Florida and closing the shop in 2 weeks the 3 are distraught and disappointed about the news and then it cuts the next scene.

In the next scene, you see Stephanie and Kimmy as Jimmy and Fernando walking in and offer the 2 a sandwich that is when they reveal that they just bought Uncle Monty’s business with Steve being the investor. Both Stephanie and Kimmy are disappointed that the decision that they made was done without them and are very skeptical as to how the business was going to be run fair when DJ walks in the house she learns from the girls of the situation and also informed her that Steve is the one who’s investing.

At the end of the episode, Steve explains that this was a good business decision and that he can even franchise Uncle Monty’s like subways the girls warm up to the idea and the episode ends.

In episode 5 you have the grand re-opening of Uncle Monty’s which in the beginning has a lot of issues that if you’re not on social media you may run into these problems. Episode 5 titled Ready Player Fuller we have the grand reopening of Uncle Monty’s Andy episode Jimmy is dealing with promotions and ordering products for the store preparing it for the grand re-opening, they run into a few fixable problems they find out that the date of the grand reopening was scheduled for the day after but they don’t have the products that they need for a successful Grand re-opening nor do they have a banner for the event. Later on in the episode, they use they’re getting ready for the grand re-opening it successful but successful for the wrong reasons, unfortunately, everybody received a Groupon for Uncle Monty’s promising an 82% off. As the episode continues they have officially run out of the product as they had earlier predicted so Jimmy makes the unfortunate announcement that they had officially run out product and they weren’t ready for the opening.

Finally, at the end of the episode, the customers band together and decided to share their sandwiches with other customers but before any takers come they’re saved at the last minute by the local distributor.

The Conners had a similar what for its second season so best dive into it with a short recap

In season 2 of The Conners Becky gives birth to her first child, moves into her parent’s basement and goes back to working at the bar during this time Jackie sees that the old lunch box is back on the market, so she decides to see if Becky wants to partner with her in reopening The Lunchbox.

In Discovery they find out that the grandmother still owns the property and has given Darlene power of attorney Darlene is rightfully hesitant to say give up a piece of property that can be used to provide money for the family, that is enough to bring Strife between Darlene Aunt Jackie and Becky to where Becky moves in with Aunt Jackie.

Things continue to go awry when the 2 come over for Thanksgiving dinner, Darlene says something to Jackie and Jackie decides to slap Darlene for what she said to make up there’s a family vote and they vote to reopen The Lunchbox.

Later on, Jackie realizes that she is way over her head when they discover that the maintenance and the property is not up to code and is it going to cost them a lot of money so Jackie ultimately decides to give up until the town of Landford decides to Kitchen to fix the restaurant after they hear about the struggle that they have.

In conclusion in both series, you learn about crowdsourcing or crowdfunding which is the process of receiving funding from the community rather than a bank, and private investing which is considered (OPM) which stands for other people’s money, in Fuller house Jimmy should have edited the date of opening instead of opening the day of error, in addition, Steve could have also avoided the whole issue of charging people for Less for sandwiches by simply editing the Groupon. Thank you for taking the time to read if you liked what you read and you feel like you learn something please feel free to like share and subscribe I’m always looking for sponsors so if you’re interested please email me at Emilio.Perezjr@CEOEnterprisenx.com or sign up for Drum

Advertisers nightmare

Recently Peloton a company that sells indoor exercise bikes with a monitor for a live televised training released an ad that garnered a lot of deserved attention with some calling the ad sexist and accusing the company of promoting unhealthy marital standards while others either made fun of the ad in addition to the stock dropping as a result of the ad.

The ad features a wife coming down for Christmas with her child and her husband gifted her with a Peloton exercise bike, the ad continues to show her experience using the bike ending with a video message to her husband showing her how satisfied she is with her present.

While the ad promotes healthy living it was improperly marketed and probably didn’t even go through the test audience that could have told them it was a bad idea or instead of a featuring Christmas, it should have featured New wife’s New Year’s resolution to stay healthy and happy.

In conclusion, advertising can get expensive and you only have one chance to get it right so make sure you follow all the necessary steps before you release anything or learn it yourself.

If you have an interest in marketing I highly suggest you check out Billy Gene is marketing no I am not an affiliate nor have I tried them but he does have a pretty good success rate or sign up for this free e-book to learn more.

Safety cleaning

A Buffalo Wild Wings chemical spill leaves one dead and 13 hospitalized after an employee was mopping up chemicals with a cleaning solution.

It’s important to note Before cleaning up any spill it’s important to know what you’re cleaning and proper labels so it doesn’t cause a chemical reaction that can lead to irritated airways, respiratory problems, or burns to skin, eyes, throat, nose, and lungs.

Some gases are created from combined cleaning products that could cause damage to the nervous system, eyes, lungs, skin, liver, kidneys, and even death, this is why every restaurant or business must have an MSDS inventory according to OSHA regulations

Dealing with chemical spills

  • Immediately alert area occupants and supervisor, and evacuate the area, if necessary.
  • If there is a fire or medical attention is needed, contact Public Safety at 609-258-3333.
  • Attend to any people who may be contaminated. Contaminated clothing must be removed immediately and the skin flushed with water for no less than fifteen minutes. Clothing must be laundered before reuse. See First Aid for Chemical Exposures for more information.
  • If a volatile, flammable material is spilled, immediately warn everyone, control sources of ignition and ventilate the area

In closing while it’s very important as a business owner to make sure that all of your employees are trained properly handling chemicals such as cleaning supplies and any other food and safety protocols.
