The great part about today’s technology is the communication aspect as a small business or startup is the privilege of social media, email and phone notification you can connect with your customers.

For example on September 14 spectrum had several outages in the northeast granted in some areas outages where caused by Hurricane Florence however in New York weather wasn’t an issue.

However they decided to address everyone individually rather then as a whole this might have been a strategic move on their part, although I believe rather then your customers having to find you for information it’s better as a business to reach out to your consumers it saves time and money.

Thanks to features like social media outlets and notifications on your electronic devices you can seek your customers to inform them of any issues.

    On September 3, 2018 Nike featured Colin Kaepernick on their 30th anniversary following an the next day.

    This photo caused so much backlash that people started burning and destroying their Nike products not only to show their Destain and hatred for the decision but in of this viral trend Rather than donate to a non-prophet organization.

    It was also met with a 3% purge in their stock prices then rose back up again a day later.

    On Tuesday a commercial was released with the former football player turned activist who gave a very inspirational message

    here’s the thing Nike took a calculated risk however they’re to looking to market to millennials, young impressionable people who are going to buy their products long term.

    This should not be a surprise to anyone considering past figures such as Serena Williams, Michael Jordan, koby Bryant, tiger woods and the king himself LeBron James people who have Withstood adversity.

    At the same time let’s call this what is a publicity stunt an attempt to stay relevant the best way to get attention is controversy.

    I will add Levi to this in saying they too are using the same tactics.

    Shapr is a relatively new app That matches and Connects you with other entrepreneurs in your area with in your niche or Area of expertise.

    You can sign up by using your linkdin profile or your email address similar to the way Tinder Uses you’re Facebook and Instagram profile.

    Essentially The way it works is you set up your profile put in your niche or area of expertise and you swipe left or right depending on you would want to meet with and if your a match you can message them.

    It’s convenient, easy to use and a great app to connect with mentors, potential employers or clients especially if your getting into real estate, internships, apprenticeship or business all together.

    24 hours To hell and back Shermans

    OK in episode 4 of 24 hours to hell and back Gordon Ramsay visits a 30 year old antique restaurant called Shermans in Greenville, MS even Came with it’s own chef and was bought in 2012 by current owners peter and Allison nimrod Who decided to leave well enough alone and kept not only the name but everything in it including Steve the most overpriced item in the restaurant earning $90,000.00 a year, weekly is about this much without dependents give or take

    The owners at this point were bleeding money they barely had any customer and everything was starting to fall apart.

    Gordon Ramsay Went undercover to investigate with surveillance cameras and a disguise he took a few local farmer out to lunch so he can blend in what he found was even more disturbing everything was microwave Steve had not updated his pallet the kitchen was under unsanitary conditions such as the top of the warming lamps being caked in dirt, Greasy outlet, the grease catcher was caked in grease and the charred pan hadn’t been clean, The only thing that was up to date was the POS system and the 5 microwaves that they used consistently.

    Cross contamination

    Meat and fish being bathed in the same sink as the pots and pans that are washed with soap and water in addition to being cooked on the same grill. Please remember food must be kept separated from cleaning supplies as well as other meats.

    Constructive criticisms

    One of the mistakes that Alison made is she was very defensive with the reviews and often responded in a negative way. So here are 4 steps to responding to a negative reviews

  • Essentially I actually liked her original idea at this point Gordon Ramsey had ordered another employee to be fired instead of trying to place the employee in a different position however you can’t argue with Gordon Ramsey well you can but you’ll lose.
  • One employee was fired and one was promoted and rightfully so.
  • they had their first successful dinner service and there still open till this day.

    In episode three of 24 hours to hell and back we follow a Cajun restaurant in the heart of Los Angeles, the owner Clive jackson who is broken, a man who’s dedicated not just to his work but to his community and family.

    His desire to save at risk youth After his only son was robbed of his life while he was waiting for a bus the man held his son in his arms and blamed himself.

    He wasn’t only about to lose his business but his family and his relationship with his wife and daughter this place needed saving.

    I am all for employees expelling energy while it’s slow so as long as its in a productive manner.

    I spent time engaging current and potential customers and guest. I try to entertain the guests waiting online those were some of the best moments.

    You can also find other examples at Jekyll and Hyde club a theme restaurant in New York City where waiters and characters engaged in song and dance.

    So if you’re the waitstaff and everything that needs to be done is already done be creative and engage guests

    Cell phone usage

    Do not use your Cellphone in public unless you are reaching out to potential customers if it’s an emergency go to a private location like the bathroom or the break room same as if your eating or smoking

    Temperature control

    Check the temperature inside freezer if you can’t see your breath or you can still feel your face it’s not that cold enough and you need to check the number on the panel.

    With Cooked meat it’s important that you check the temperature do not under cook or over cook food parasites, germs and bacteria are attracted to certain temperatures make sure you read the guide lines.

    First in first out When in doubt throw it out

    Very important make sure everything is dated where you can see it, do not serve food that’s expired and before you serve food if it’s not something you would give to your family let alone your pet don’t serve it when in doubt throw it out.

    The kitchen

    Be sure to clean everything before you leave throw out the grease, clean out the vents and trays this could mean the difference between life and death a paycheck or law suit

    Passion over paycheck

    If you were working and you are not going to give it your best or show your interest for the job then leave.

    Pos systems

    It is the 20th century we are passed the era of writing by hand you have companies like toast, Presto and touch bistros

    Renovate, Revamp and renew

    Change the decor, create a new menu and renew your image. Remember Community is important, you’re not in it alone, get rid of dead weight and work with a team (team work makes the dream work)

    Lastly take care of yourself and your employees get rid of dead weight

    Uber vs postmates

    I’m going to tell you several Key differences between Ubereats and postmates

    Pay per delivery


    Postmates can payout anywhere from $4.00-$6.00 per delivery

    Uber pays $2.34-$5.55 per delivery

    Payouts

    Postmates pays 5-7 businesses

    Uber you have the option to wait 4-5 businesses days or get the instant deposits sent to your bank for 50¢ or if you sign up for the Uber card you can cash out for free and get rewards on top

    if you have a business the best ways to advertise are

    1. Meet ups this is actually great way to get business for restaurants, rental spaces and products you can find or start a group with in your niche
    2. Facebook groups and Twitter hashtag’s Twitter hashtag is as hard as posting on Facebook or Instagram however if done right you can really get a lot of traffic one of the ways is join the Facebook group relevant to your niche,
    3. Build a blog or vlog or have someone who had a blog for YouTube channel to promote your business for example You probably seen a channel I promote in return she promotes my blog.
    4. What’s trending: Another thing you can do is try to find whatever and find a way to incorporate that into your ad an example of that would be yesterday was chicken wings day many businesses used that hashtag to advertise their businesses it was also the roast of Bruce Willis So a perfect ad for that would be “let them Roast Bruce Willis we’ll fry the wings” this could’ve been done by any restaurants like midnight express or Paladar Brazilian barbecue
    5. Video marketing like #inmyfeelingschallange is a great way to get the attention of the viewer

    Let me start by saying I have been working in the service industry for over 10 years I have stayed in hotels and eaten at several restaurants, been to several movie theaters even worked at one.

    With that being said I believe Customer/ guest service is one of the most crucial aspects of any business.

    Today were going to go over several aspects of customer/guest service

    1. Acknowledge your guest when you first see them preferably as soon as they come in the door Embrace them with a smile and a warm welcome
    2. Be approachable, Post posture is important try not to lean never cross your arms
    3. Create a fun atmosphere for everyone be playful but not too playful be energetic do not be sloppy
    4. Always be objective and understanding to the customers concerns and complaints.
    5. Be consistent with customer rules of conduct and policy that has been set in place emergencies in special circumstances may apply
    6. When ever you make a mistake make sure you fix it do not get upset do not blame the customer or the messenger (cases of couriers)
    7. Be courteous, be mindful and be on time.
    8. Specifically for apps make sure you have a way for us to reach you I Purchased McDonald’s two weeks ago never received my order and I still haven’t gotten word back from them I have a better response time with lyft and Uber

The average employee is now shelling out more than 30% of their household income forcing them to work three jobs at a time in addition to having makeshift rooms which results fire and health hazards, living further away from their job which results in lateness, stressed induced illness, and health issues such as diabetes, heart disease and death.

    rental scams are popping up every day people are posting daily Craigslist rentals or commuter beds and companies like AirBNB only encourages landlords to do the same. The best thing to do is to prevent price gouging is to regulate the rental market to ensure landlords are charging a fair amount for rent by giving tax incentive to landlords and business who work together.
